Bet Types

A Single Bet:
This is a bet on only one team/ player where only one outcome is predicted.

A Multiple Bet:

This is a bet on multiple teams/ players, where more than one outcome is predicted. Both selections must be successful for the bet to win, with returns from the first reinvested on the second. If a selection is scratched or a participant becomes a non-runner then the multiple bet will be recalculated and the non-runners odds excluded.
The odds of a multiple bet are worked out as follows:

  • 5/10    England
  • 9/10    South Africa
  • 12/10    Australia
  • 3/1    Kaizer Chiefs
  • 12/10 = 2.2
  • 3/1 = 4

Step 2
: Multiply all selected teams/ players odds
•    1.5 x 1.9 x 2.2 x 4 = 25.08

Step 3
: Take the product of step 2 and minus 1 and you will get the odds of your multiple.
•    25.08 - 1 = 24.08/1

So your multiple odds are 24.08/1

  • For Example:  In a Yankee not all selections must win for you to make a profit but the more selections that win the greater your profit because you will have more successful multiple bets. At least 2 selections must be successful to have a winning Yankee bet. A Yankee will consist of each of the following 11 bets.
  • Our selections are Bulls, Massa, SA, Sharks

The Yankee will consist of the following doubles:

  • Bulls and Massa
  • Bulls and SA

What is a Related Bet?

Let’s use an example to explain a Related Bet. Let’s say that Western Province is playing against the Sharks. For this match BetFlash offers Match Odds (who will be the winner of the match) as well as Handicap Odds (by how far will your team will win). The odds may look as follows:

Match Odds:

WP  0.7
Sharks  1.2

Handicap Odds:

WP(-2.5)  0.9
Sharks(+2.5)  0.9

An example of a Related Bet can be the following Multiple (a Related Bet is always a Multiple bet):
WP to Win @ 0.7
AND
WP(-2.5) to Win @ 0.9

The combined odds for this Multiple is 2.23.  This bet is related because if WP wins by 3 or more points, they also win the match. So in effect, you will get a much higher pay out than you should if WP wins by 3 or more points.
